I Wanna Shoot the Whole Day Down

So first the boring bloggy stuff.  Met with the group on Saturday, talked new ideas and show construction.  It’s coming along pretty good now, we have a name and a game plan and we’re gathering in the personel and resources we’re going to need to make this work.  Now I just need to get off my ass and write about 3 times more than I have been.

Rest of the weekend was a lot of hanging out with the family or at home running maintenance.  Enough of that.

I started reading comics again this weekend which is a huge bonus in my book.  Grabbed up all of Dave Lapham “Young Liars” to date, on recomendation from the King of Ink.   This is the guy responsible for “Stray Bullets” so you know damn well what you’re in for.

What a ride, I’m still not sure what’s going on, but damn.  The basic idea is a group of loser friends tied together by a girl named Sadie, who after taking a bullet in the head is kind of a fearless, brutal, near-child, she likes to fight, dance, and screw.  I know right?

I wont get much further into this other than to say this is all rock n’ roll comics on a level I love.  Its ugly, brutal, wierd, the characters are real, and it really gets into some fucked up business when the story really starts taking shape.  Of course I have no idea what’s real and what’s not, but that’s half the fun.

And while I’ve seen the recomended music to read thing before I think, the musical choice lists at the beginning of each issue are outstandingly appropriate.  This book alone made me glad I started reading comics again.  The art’s solid, the writing stellar.  Go read, if you think you have a strong enough stomach.

Tonight, once the holiday celebrations are over I’m going to hit up Ennis’ “The Boys” so expect some opinion in the morning.  Maybe.
